Board of Directors: Becky O'Neil
Becky O'Neil's love of animals originated on the family farm in Pennsylvania. There, she helped raise and care for animals including livestock, family pets, and horses. In her teens, she moved to Northern Virginia where she settled after starting her own family. After starting her professional career in the medical field, she quickly realized it wasn’t her calling. So, in 1998, she founded Becky’s Pet Care, Inc.
At first it was a one person operation, but within the first year Becky was developing a business plan for growth and hiring her first employee. Twenty years later, Becky's Pet Care is a leading pet care provider in Northern Virginia, with 160 employees and over 5,000 clients, and one of the largest privately-held pet care companies in the United States. It was Becky's goal to support the community, create good jobs for people who wanted to work with animals, and lead innovative practices that improve pet care and make pet care easier and more accessible for pet parents. In 2016 Becky's Pet Care launched PetPREP, a training division of educational classes to help pet professionals and pet parents take better care of their pets.
Becky's Pet Care has been the winner of local and national awards such as "Best of Pet Care” from the Washingtonian and Northern Virginia magazines and eight consecutive Angie's List Super Service awards. Her most prized award, Becky was named
Pet Sitter of the year by NAPPS in 2013.
In addition to growing her successful company, Becky supports various local and national animal rescue groups and participates in several local community organizations. She serves on the board of the Community Business Partnership in Alexandria, she's active in and past President of the local pet sitters' organization, the National Capitol Area Professional Pet Sitters Network.
Becky is excited and honored to be chosen to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. She is looking forward to aiding in the continued advancement of industry standards and nurturing the Professional Pet Sitters community through being a resource and sounding board for members.
