| 7 Things to Include in Your Fanny Pack |
|
As a professional dog walker, you know that being prepared is the key to success. Your clients trust you to take their beloved furry friends for a safe and enjoyable stroll. However, there are times when things don't go as planned. Therefore, it's essential to have certain items with you at all times to handle any situation that may arise. In this post, we'll go through the seven necessary tools every dog walker must-have. 1. Fanny Pack One of the most significant challenges of a dog walker is carrying all the necessary items conveniently. A fanny pack can come in handy for carrying treats, extra leashes, and poop bags without hampering your movement. When choosing a fanny pack, ensure it's made of durable material, comfortable to wear, and has multiple compartments to keep your items organized. PRO TIP: Use a gardening belt! These come with a lot more accessories and more pockets! 2. Poop Bag Holder As a professional dog walker, your clients expect their dogs to be cleaned up after. A poop bag holder is an essential item to carry around to ensure that you don't forget to pick up after the dog's mess. They come in different sizes and colors, and they are usually attached to your leash or fanny pack. You can even get some branded ones too for your company! 3. Extra Poop Bags Having extra poop bags is a must! This happens all the time where we used our last poop bag on the last walk, and forgot to grab more! By having extra with you at all times will save you loads of embarrassing moments! 4. Dog Deterrent It's always better to be safe than sorry, and to be prepared for any situation, including aggressive or unfriendly dogs that could threaten the dogs you're walking. You can use a dog deterrent spray that is safe and humane to discourage other dogs from attacking. Please ensure you are familiar with the product before using it. After the dog you are walking is safe, we do recommend going back to check on the dog that got spray (if they are friendly) to make sure they aren’t having an allergic reaction. 5. Extra Leash Preparedness! It’s always a great idea to have an extra leash on you in case you come upon a stray or the leash/collar you are walking the dog on snaps suddenly. Slip leashes are easy to use, light to carry, and they fit into a fanny pack. 6. Treats Most dog owners want their dogs to be rewarded with treats. As a professional dog walker, you should bring treats to maintain good behavior for the dogs you're walking. You may want to bring different treats that can cater to different dietary restrictions, and that are easy to carry around and dispense. 7. Water Bottle and/or Bowl Dogs need to stay hydrated during walks, especially on warmer days. Bringing a foldable water bowl and a water bottle can make all the difference. It's essential to provide access to water throughout the walk, and this item can make that possible. Being a professional dog walker comes with many challenges, but being prepared can make it less daunting. Having the right items at hand can save time, help maintain professionalism, and keep dogs safe and happy. A fanny pack or garden belt, poop bag holder, extra poop bags, dog deterrent, extra slip lead, treats, and a water bottle/bowl are essential items that can make a difference. Invest in quality items that will make any walk enjoyable, and you'll be able to create a lasting impression with your clients.
