The only national, non-profit, professional pet sitting association dedicated to raising and abiding by industry standards. We support members with education, certification and the resources to operate successful businesses. 

Our community welcomes pet sitters and pet parents.

We envision a future where pet care professionals and pet parents collaborate to make a significant positive impact on the welfare of pets and the pet industry through education, certification, and community outreach.

OUR STATEMENT OF POSITION

 NAPPS celebrates the entrepreneur and embraces your right to run your professional pet sitting business your way within the parameters of the law while always safeguarding the health and welfare of pets and possessions under your care, custody and control. It is suggested you always consult an expert or legal professional and understand that practices and laws can vary from local, state, tribal and federal levels. NAPPS highly recommends that members carry and maintain specific pet services liability insurance.

Conference/Networking/Webinar sessions presented to you are for your information only and do not necessarily represent the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters’ ethics, policies, or suggested business practices.

As a pet-focused organization, NAPPS encourages the use of humane and positive techniques when caring for and handling animals.

History

The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) was founded in 1989 by a small group of pet sitters. Four years later, NAPPS incorporated as a nonprofit membership organization in order to provide support and serve as a voice for the expanding industry.

As the association grew, NAPPS services and benefits increased, raising the organization's standards of excellence. Membership now hovers around 2,200 pet sitters nationwide. NAPPS continues to flourish and grow, proudly expanding opportunities and services offered to professional pet caretakers and pet parents alike.

BISSELL Pet Foundation is a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness. Our programs allow us to get to the core of pet overpopulation and better support homeless pets and the people who care for them in shelters across the country. As a hands-on foundation, we are committed to understanding the needs of different geographic areas, knowing our partners, and working together to create the best possible outcomes through grant funding for programs and initiatives that directly impact homeless pets. By providing desperately needed resources, BISSELL Pet Foundation is reducing the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, transport, spay/neuter programs, vaccinations, microchipping, and crisis and disaster response.
